Toucher & Rich: Haggerty On Tyler Seguin's Return

Toucher & Rich were joined Tuesday morning by Joe Haggerty of Comcast SportsNet New England to talk about tonight's game and the return of Tyler Seguin to Boston with his new team the Dallas Stars.

After signing Seguin to a six-year contract of $5.75 million per season, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli dealt the young star to Dallas on July 4 as concerns grew about his off-the-ice behavior. Now in the Western Conference, Seguin is among the league leaders in scoring in the Stars' wide-open system where his focus is on offense only.

CSNNE's insider Joe Haggerty spoke to Toucher & Rich about Seguin's return, and if the Bruins were right in trading away their 2010 first round pick.

"They [the Bruins] had a guy that was going to be close to making $6 million a year, and they felt like he wasn't going to be a top franchise center on a Stanley Cup caliber team. He's able to put up arcade game numbers offensively, but he's going to lose face-offs, he's not going to be able to win one-on-one battles and he's not going to pay attention to little details," said Haggs of Seguin.

"The hockey IQ is lacking in some areas, and if you haven't gotten it by your third or fourth year in the league, there's serious question to whether you're ever going to get it."

Another topic of discussion was forward Loui Eriksson, who suffered a concussion at the hands of Buffalo Sabres' enforcer John Scott. Scott was subsequently suspended by the league for seven games. Haggs gave an update on the health status of Eriksson.

"He's been on the ice four days in a row. There were no limitations put on him in practice, that means there was contact and everything else. He seems to be responding well," said Haggs of Eriksson. "It's a good sign for him. It wouldn't shock me at all to see him tonight playing with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand."

Haggs then went around the league to discuss other NHL topics, including the teams off to a fast start. Listen below to hear his analysis:
