Toucher & Rich: Greg Bedard On Patriots Poor Execution
BOSTON (CBS) - Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe spoke with Toucher & Rich Tuesday about what happened in Buffalo, the defense, the pass rush and Albert Haynesworth.
The guys started talking about poor execution by the Patriots on both sides of the ball, but focused more on the defense. Is there enough talent on this defense to pull off the kind of play we want to see?
"I'm not sure if it is this year. I think they've been caught in between some things...The injuries on the defensive line have really thrown a monkey wrench into the plans for this defense...In general I think the talent is there, but for one thing they have to have Patrick Chung out there. They can't be playing with Josh Barrett and Segio Brown, that was not part of the plan," Bedard said.
As the guys continued to discuss the defense Albert Haynesworth was brought up.
When the Patriots signed Haynesworth there was talk of how he would change the way this team played defense and here we are in Week 3 and he's out with a back injury.
He played well the first week and didn't play so well the second week and now he's out the third.
Does Bedard have any faith that Haynesworth going to come in and contribute in a big way?
"With Haynesworth he's got to show me. In some of the spurts we've seen he's looked very good, but I don't have a ton of faith. Let me put it this way, after watching the Chargers game again and seeing that he didn't have any impact in that game and also he went out for a short time with some sort of injury, I said to Shalize I have a funny feeling that this is the week where Albert Haynesworth comes in and says you know what I don't think I feel like practicing today," Bedard said.
