Toucher & Rich: Dave Richard's Fantasy Football 'No Draft List'
BOSTON (CBS) - With your fantasy draft likely coming up soon, fantasy guru Dave Richard of CBS Sports joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich show for the first time this season to provide his expert advice.
You've heard of the "No Fly List" at airports, well Dave Richard came on the show Thursday to talk about his "No Draft List," or players to stay away from in the upcoming fantasy season.
One player he sees having a down year is Carolina signal caller Cam Newton.
"The top of my No Draft List is Cam Newton. I know he's finished as a top five fantasy quarterback the last three seasons but there's too much junk going on with him right now," said Richard. "He even admitted yesterday that he's not as mobile as he wants to be. Everyone knows he's an okay passer, but when it comes to rushing that's where he's really been great for fantasy owners. However, the rushing numbers for fantasy owners have gone down precipitously for the last three years."
Any receivers on the "No Draft List"?
"I would not draft Wes Welker. I fear one concussion could knock him out for awhile. He suffered two of them last year and I wonder if that will impact his play. He's done a lot in this league and has been great for Peyton Manning and the Broncos, but the Denver receiving core is even deeper than last year and I'm a little nervous about Welker being a fantasy stud this year."
Richard is also apprehensive about a young tight end in the NFC East and three veteran running backs.
