Colvin On Toucher & Rich: McCourty 'Has Great Talent'
The Patriots beat the Chargers 35-21 and once again Tom Brady led the way with 423 yards and throwing 3 touchdowns.
Former Patriots linebacker Rosevelt Colvin spoke with Toucher & Rich about the win in Gillette, Devin McCourty's performance over the first two weeks, Chad Ochocinco's comments after week 1 and Peyton Manning.
The guys started off talking about Peyton Manning's injury. Are people in Indianapolis in a panic now that the Colts have dropped their first 2 games?
They also went on to discuss the penalty called on Andre Carter for a hit on Philip Rivers. Colvin felt that it wasn't a legitimate roughing the passer call. This led to a conversation about how players are taught to tackle.
They moved on to discuss Devin McCourty's performance this week against the Chargers and last week against the Dolphins. It seems that McCourty is having problems covering bigger receivers, what are Colvin's thoughts?
"I think he had a phenomenal first year, obviously with all the interception and going to the Pro Bowl. I think what he needs to make sure he does is continue to eat that old famous humble pie and not read the headlines, I mean the kid has great talent. What has happened there are situations where there are balls being thrown his way and he's either a split second late or the quarterback is throwing it in a great position where he can't get to it. I don't think he's in a situation where he should be disappointed and/or frustrated with the season. I mean you think about the guys he's going up with, these aren't just guys that walk off the street or rookies either, these are All-Pro, Pro Bowl caliber receivers and it's just a matter of continuing to work hard," said Colvin on McCourty's play.
They also talked about Chad Ochocinco's comments after the Monday night game in Miami where he tweeted: "Just waking up after a late arrival,I've never seen a machine operate like that n person,to see video game numbers put up n person was WOW."
What did Colvin make of those comments?
"It's a guy that has been on the outside of seeing what the Patriots football team and Patriots organization has been able to accomplish over the last 10 years with Bill at the helm and Tom being the quarterback. Now he's able to see why because he's sort of on the inside now," said Colvin.
That and much more with former Patriot Rosevelt Colvin.
