Toucher & Rich: Chris Kelly: His Role If Bergeron Has To Sit
The Boston Bruins swept the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night at the TD Garden and move on to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 1992.
Chris Kelly spoke with Toucher & Rich about the big win and the hit on Patrice Bergeron.
Early in the third period of Game 4 Bergeron was hit, left the ice and did not return. The Bruins say that he has suffered a mild concussion from the hit by Flyers forward Claude Giroux.
Kelly is not sure what his role will be just yet, although it appears he will be the one to bump up to the second line and take Bergeron's spot. No matter what happens, Kelly thinks the Bruins are deep enough to survive a significant loss like Bergeron.
"We're a pretty deep team and we have a lot capable players that can move up and down the lineup," he said. "That was definitely one of our strengths in this postseason so far."
"If you put anyone on any line, they're going to be effective," Kelly continued. "That's the benefit of having guys that can play multiple positions and move up and down the line."
The Bruins are going to get some time off until things in the West finish up, what do the B's do to stay loose so they won't come out rusty after their time off?
"I think you need to remain focused," said Kelly. "It is nice to get some time to rest during the postseason because it is a rare thing. We're going to have a good practice today and I think you need to keep the mentality that you're still playing and you still have a job to do. This is the most exciting time of the season and we're in a great situation moving forward."
The guys also discussed Adam McQuaid injury, will he be ready to go when this series with Tampa Bay starts?
