Toucher & Rich: Are You Concerned About The Patriots Offense?
It was a less than desired result for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots on Thursday night in Detroit as the Lions routed the Patriots 40-9 in the third preseason game. New England couldn't hold on to the ball on offense as they coughed up three fumbles and one interception.
Through the first two preseason games the offense was garnering a good amount of praise, but after the lack of success with the football are there now concerns? Could this loss be attributed to it being a preseason game and the team is still feeling thing out?
"There's concern, but I think the line is solid which is number one, well I mean obviously having Tom Brady that's number one, but your line is solid. So they're going to give him time, but there will be bumps in the road," said Mike Flynn as he filled in for Fred on Toucher & Rich.
The offense was without Danny Amendola due to injury, but by all accounts the wide receiver should be ready to go by the first week of the regular season.
Tight end Zach Sudfeld was responsible for one of the fumbles in the game and was sidelined for the rest of the game. Flynn said that he would have liked to have seen how Sudfeld recovered and handled things in the next series.
The guys also talked about the Lions and their chippy play after the whistles and the lack of response by the Patriots. Flynn reveals how he paid opposing players back for late or borderline dirty hits.
