Toucher and Rich Recap: 7/13/2010
Hour 1:
- DA continues to fill in for Fred, who has warned us via Facebook that he is going to have stories when he comes back. Will he come in Thursday like was planned, or will he make a break for it and go to work tomorrow to stay away from the chaos that is his new house?
- We find out that DA lives a crazy life at the station after everyone leaves, filled with pizza boxes and grape Smirnoff Ice. Because he is so used to living this life, he only got one and a half hours of sleep. Party animal.
- Rich teases the new Mel Gibson recordings.
- Male Bag- Jose Ortiz wins the Home Run Derby, Nick Swisher should be called Nick Whiffer, congrats to Fred's new bundle of poo.
Hour 2:
- Ask a Pink Hat- A big hint should have been that "Sweet Caroline" is one of her favorite aspects of Fenway. She gives the dumbest answer to a question in all of Ask a Pink Hat history.
- Home Run Derby- David Ortiz won, but did it have to be so long? The worst sports commentary of all time did not help either. Not even Will Ferrell could help it. Back, back, back, yikes, yikes stripes, shoes!!!
- Ortiz brings up an extension. Red Sox organization says they'll talk about it later.
- David Stern talks about the decision behind "The Decision." If he were asked by Lebron his opinion, Stern would have advised not to embark on what became "The Decision" and to tell Cleveland his choice ahead of time. Rich believes he is lying because of how many viewers were watching it. This was probably the best thing to happen.
- Stern also says that Gilbert was "ill advised" in his letter about Lebron James and fined him $100,000. Wallach, DA and Rich banter about whether he deserved the fine. Wallach believes the fine was not justifiable.
Hour 3:
- Rich plays a CNN interview with Michale Wilbon concerning the hour-long Lebron special. Wilbon talks about how it was too long, especially from a journalistic standpoint. But, would any other networks turn Lebron down? No.
- Mel Gibson tape #2- The worst yet, but more is supposedly to come. Lots of yelling, hyperventilating and threats.
- Rich's mom calls in, disappointed in Gibson. However, she believes he can be forgiven if he makes amends.
- Instant feedbacks about Rich's mom. Seems like whenever any female calls in, the T&R male audience members start drooling.
- Home Run Derby- Ortiz won it all, and brings up his contract. Is he vindicated in talking about it and wanting an extension?
Hour 4:
- Gary Tanguay calls in and talks sports. He is suspicious of Ortiz and is disappointed in him. Hear some of his hip hop work.
- John Grudin- After a hiatus from analyzing the draft and football camp, he went to his son's school and analyzed the players there. Creepy.
- George Steinbrenner dies at age 80 from a heart attack. Rich mentions the Dead Pool and how ESPN probably prepared for the notice of his death with clips.
- Mel Gibson tape #2 replay.
- Crossover
