Tom Brady, Vollmer And Mankins Miss Practice
BOSTON (CBS) - The Patriots were back on the practice field Wednesday as they get ready for the Buffalo Bills.
No Tom Brady, no Sebastian Vollmer and no Logan Mankins. Mankins was expected to miss, he's suffered a sprained MCL against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday.
Tom Brady was a surprise. Late word though that this was not an injury related absent.
Matt Light and BenJarvus Green-Ellis were both at practice.
Brady Gets More Honors
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Miami Dolphins this past Saturday. The Dolphins have been a good luck charm for Tom, this is the second time this season he has gotten that honor after playing Miami. Brady has received this honor 3 times this season and it's the 20th time in his career.
As far as the team goes, this is the 6th player of the week honor the Pats have got this season. Brady 3 times, Andre Carter was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Julian Edelman received AFC Special Teams Player of the Week and Rob Gronkowski also received AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Belichick Focuses On Bills
Bill Belichick tried to talk only Buffalo Bills in his press conference today. Trying to get the team focused was his goal. Here are some of the left overs from his media session.
Mankins and knee braces: Belichick was asked if guard Logan Mankins' knee brace prevented a more serious knee injury on Saturday, and whether the team mandates that players wear braces. "I'm sure the knee brace prevented it from being a more serious injury," Belichick acknowledged. He explained that the team's policies on equipment are in part mandated by the league, but not in all cases. He did not elaborate on any specific team policies regarding braces.
One game at a time. An out-of-town reporter asked Belichick, given his team's "one game at a time approach," how he would react if running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis were to talk about rushing for 125 yards in a playoff game in this week's practice. "Having just talked to Bennie yesterday, I'd be really surprised if he said that," Belichick said with a smile.
