Tom Brady Says He Hopes To Play 'Beyond 40'
BOSTON (CBS) -- Tom Brady made headlines a few years back when he said he hopes to play in the NFL until he's 40. Now that he's approaching his 36th birthday and that clock continues to tick, the quarterback is feeling like 40 isn't enough.
"The way I feel now, it's beyond 40," Brady said in an interview with Sports Illustrated's Peter King. "I have a lot of goals, and I am in this for the long haul. ... Can't see not playing at any time in the near future. There's nothing I love to do more. Whether the New England Patriots want me, or anyone wants me, I know I want to play for quite a while."
The interview was promoted as Brady's first public comments since the Aaron Hernandez arrest, but Brady's words about Hernandez predictably didn't address anything specific.
"I have moved on," Brady told King regarding Hernandez. "I'm focusing on the great teammates I have who are committed to helping us win games. The only thing I care about is winning."
Brady will be at Gillette Stadium this week as the Patriots begin training camp for the 2013 season, his 14th in the NFL.
