To Victims' Families, Osama Bin Laden Death Relieving
BOSTON (CBS) - For Carie Lemack, this isn't a day of celebrations; it is a day of remembrance and relief.
Carie lost her mother, Judy Laroque on Flight 11 on September 11th. Sunday night, she got a call to tune into the President's address.
"To now know the man who plotted and executed her murder is gone, it brings a sense of relief, because we know other families don't have to suffer the same way we have and continue to do," said Carie.
WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson reports.
Carie has spent much of the past decade working to counter bin Laden's influence by giving survivors a voice. She created the Global Survivors' Network, and made a documentary that was nominated for an Academy Award.
With bin Laden now dead, what does this mean for Carie?
"It means there is one less voice we have to counter. His threat is still real, his ideology is out there, and we believe his voice is strong, but ours can be stronger," said Carie.
WBZ-TV's Peg Rusconi talked with military families who have lost loved ones in the War on Terror.
