Tim Thomas Brings The Stanley Cup To Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) -- Boston Bruins goalie and former Vermont Catamount Tim Thomas has brought the Stanley Cup to the streets of Burlington.

Crowds gathered to watch Thomas march in a parade Saturday morning. Thomas also made a few comments, thanking the National Guard and communities for all their help in helping the state recover from Tropical Storm Irene.

Thomas runs a summer hockey program in the area that sells out yearly.

He helped lead the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Championship The Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks to win their first Stanley Cup since 1972.

The Davidson, Mich., native had a four-year career with the Catamounts and helped Vermont make back-to-back trips to the NCAA tournament and the school's first trip to the Frozen Four in 1996.
