Thunderstorms Are Back

We can barely catch a break as of late.  It was a beauty yesterday, but today will be a different story as a frontal boundary makes Southern New England its home for a few days.

Today will be one to watch the Doppler Radar!  This morning through the middle part of the day will include mostly cloudy skies and showers (a few storms north of the Pike).  Between 2-5pm, the armosphere will be gearing up for the severe weather potential headin our way later in the day.  Later this afternoon, especially this evening and early overnight, models and severe weather indices are showing a greater risk of strong/severe storms setting up.   These storms will have the potential of creating flash flooding, damaging winds, bouts of hail, frequent lightning, and even an isolated tornado from Western/Central Massachusetts to Western Connecticut and portions of New York and Pennsylvania.  High temperatures will be near 80F, add or subtract a few degrees.

Friday will be another unsettled day in the weather department. Partly sunny skies will give way to strong to severe storms developing anytime after noon as the atmosphere destabilizes and a stalled frontal boundary acts as the lifting mechanism.  Winds will shift onshore and keep high temps in the 75-82F range...coolest at the coast.

This weekend isn't looking as promising as the past handful of Summer beauties.  Saturday will be partly sunny with a chance of showers and storms starting around midday.  Sunday will be mainly dry with partly sunny skies along with a very slight chance of an afternoon pop-up storm.  Onshore winds throughout the weekend will keep the coastal communities in the middle and upper 70s on Saturday and Sunday. Interior neighborhoods will be around the lower 80s.

Current models are depicting a very active weather pattern through the second week of August. We shall see...

One alarm clock away...
