Three Mass. Hikers Rescued From NH Woods
FRANCONIA, N.H. (CBS) – Three hikers from Massachusetts were rescued from the New Hampshire woods on Monday in two separate incidents.
A Billerica hiker was rescued in Nottingham, New Hampshire after he was reportedly hiking alone and got lost.
Rescuers tracked him down and escorted him out of the woods.
Meanwhile, in Franconia, New Hampshire, there was another successful rescue. Two experienced hikers from Winchester got stranded in whiteout conditions on Mt. Lafayette on Sunday.
Those hikers found a shelter, called their families on their cell phones, and waited for help. Rescuers followed the sound of their whistles to track them down, and the two men were able to hike down the mountain Monday morning.
