Three Financial District New Year's Eve Hot Spots
New Year's Eve is one of the best nights of the year. How you start 2012 can say a lot about how the rest of the year will play out. A total fail of a night might mean a bad year. The most fun ever might mean absolute success for the year ahead. Well…maybe that's not exactly how it works (I might be slightly exaggerating), but let's not take any chances here people.
Now, besides for the question of who you're going to kiss at midnight – the main focus is where you're going to be when you kiss that special someone. Here are three fab suggestions for a good time in the Financial District. Go big or go home this NYE.
Rowdy Crowd!

When Jake Ivory's closed their doors in '09, we all mourned the loss of one of Boston's most unique spots. Thankfully, we have a replacement that's able to fill that deep dark dueling piano void; Howl at the Moon. If you're looking for a rowdy spot with talented musicians playing classic tunes that everyone can sing along to (not to mention their great beer selection and buckets – literally buckets – of booze for the non-beer lovers), this is the one for your countdown to midnight. Heads up though, the line gets long real quick so the earlier you get there, the better. You don't want to miss the ball drop!
Laid Back NYE
Hours: Monday-Saturday 11am-2am

I'm pretty sure Coogan's is one of the best-kept secrets of Boston. Tucked away on Milk Street on the edge of the Financial District, this gem is a lunch hot spot by day and a really fun (and casual) party scene by night. It's my group of friends' go-to spot when we don't really want to put the effort into thinking of a new place to try and we just want a sure thing. There are always great tunes playing, lots of dancing, a decent crowd (we've met some entertaining folks here), and $1 - 16oz Bud Light drafts. Need I say more? This could be more of a sure thing than that drunk guy you're trying to kiss – and most definitely more enjoyable.
Dress To The Nines For Fancy NYE
Hours: Mon-Fri 3pm-2am, Saturday 5pm-2am
Reviews, Directions & More
Looking for something a little fancier then Coogan's? I'm usually not that fancy, but New Year's Eve tends to bring out the fancier side in all of us (and possibly the classier-than-$1-drafts side as well…not that there is anything wrong with $1 drafts). In this fancy situation, I'd have to suggest giving Market a try. Swanky atmosphere, friendly bartenders, good tunes and a spacious roof deck make for a perfect NYE spot. Watch out though ladies, there can be a lot of men on the prowl here – which could be a good thing, or a bad thing depending on what you're looking for! Might secure a guaranteed kiss at midnight…
