Thousands Of Dollars, Tools Stolen From Dartmouth Farm
DARTMOUTH (CBS) - A Dartmouth farmer is on the hunt for the thief who broke into his store and robbed the 85-year-old business. "I noticed something was wrong, because there was change all over the floor. They had grabbed change buckets, and then they got the safe and carried it out," says John George, who's grandfather started the farm.
He has put a sign out front offering $2,000 for information. That's how much money was in the stolen safe. In addition, hundreds of dollars were taken from the employee tip basket, plus a collection for a local animal shelter. The thief also stole thousands of dollars worth of tools from a garage out back.
"If somebody did this because they have to feed their family, I don't feel that bad about it, but if somebody did it because they had to buy drugs, I'm really upset about it," says George.
Dartmouth Police say they're investigating, but don't have any new leads. They say it happened sometime between 9:00pm last Thursday and early Friday morning.
George has invested in new cameras, some with night vision, along with motion sensor lights. "If somebody comes back, we'll get them," he says, adding that he hates all the security. "It's a different world out there."
