Thieves Focused On Stealing Snow Blowers
MANSFIELD (CBS) -- All this snow has created a new high theft item: snow blowers.
Cambridge, Arlington, and Revere are just a few of the many police departments that have taken reports of stolen snow blowers.
Melissa and Stephen Bilentschuk of Mansfield are among the victims. "What took us two and a half hours to do he could do in about 45 minutes with the blower," says Melissa.
But during the height of Wednesday night's storm someone stole their $600 blower they had bought just last year.
"We've been here 23 years and nothing has ever been stolen," says Melissa. Now she and her husband feel violated.
WBZ-TV's Jonathan Elias reports.
"I'm very disappointed because that blower made it so much easier to clear my drive and now I'm back to shoveling," says Stephen.
The two got up very early Thursday morning to clear their drive and it took them two and a half hours.
They are now wanting to buy a new one, but the stores are sold out. So they are looking online now for a used blower.
Police say the best you can do is take a picture of your snow blower and write down the serial number so you have a record of it.
