Thefts Force Hilltop Steakhouse To Police Patrons
SAUGUS (CBS) – A long line stretched out the door at the Hilltop Steakhouse in Saugus Thursday.
But beyond the crowds coming for one last meal, the Hilltop has to contend with thieves trying to make some money off the closing.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Jim Smith reports
The restaurant is reporting an increase of stolen items, some of which are showing up on ebay according to police.
Police say plates with the Hilltop logo, leather-bound menus and even antique pots have been stolen. The plates are estimated to be $20 each and the pots are valued at $600 each.
The Hilltop recently announced it would close on Sunday October 20 after more than 50 years in business.
Saugus Police are working with management to identify the suspect and prevent further thefts from the restaurant.
