If you have a college freshman in the family, you know they have a different way of looking at the world than you do. Every year, Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin comes out with their "Mindset List" for incoming freshmen to show how young people's views of the world have changed.
For the class of 2014, John McEnroe has never played professional tennis. Also, Fergie is a pop singer, and not a princess.
The class of 2014 has never twisted the coiled handset wire aimlessly around their wrists while chatting on the phone. They've also never worried about a Russian missile strike on the U.S. and Czechoslovakia has never existed.
For college freshmen, Korean-made cars have always been a staple on American highways, Reggie Jackson has always been enshrined in Cooperstown, and American companies have always done business in Vietnam.
The members of the class of 2014 also know Clint Eastwood better as a sensitive director, rather than Dirty Harry.
And unless they found one in their grandparents' closet, the Class of 2014 has never seen a carousel of Kodachrome slides.
