The Golf Club: June 21, 2014
BOSTON (CBS) - On the latest edition of The Golf Club, Hardy was joined by Michael Whitmer of the Boston Globe and Steve Show of Golfsmith in Watertown. Plus he also gave a review of Butternut Farm Golf Club in Stow and talked about a very cool charity.
In the opening segment, Hardy tells us about his recovery from a herniated disc and how it's helped his golf game, plus he lets us know about a charity event coming up at TPC Boston that benefits families of armed service members.

Next up was Michael Whitmer of the Globe in to talk about how recent golf majors have fallen flat.
Two majors are in the bank now between The Masters and the US Open, and it's hard coming up with one signature moment from each.
"Both majors have kind of been duds. There was really no Sunday charge at Augusta that we're used to seeing. Bubba Watson won. Yes, he was great. I thought he deserved to win, but he really wasn't pushed on Sunday in the final round like you would typically want to see."
Jordan Spieth became a household name after the 20-year-old challenged Watson on Masters Sunday, but a couple mistakes by Spieth and it was basically over going into the final turn. The US Open was even worse.
"And then last week at Pinehurst Martin Kaymer was fantastic. He was far and away the best player in the field, but the tournament was over on Friday. He never had a lead lower than four shots in the final two rounds. So it was the second major in a row that didn't have the drama that people want to see," said Whitmer.
Hardy added, "The old saying goes that the tournament doesn't really begin until the back nine on Sunday. And it really didn't [begin at all]."

Once again Hardy was joined by Steve Show of Golfsmith in Watertown, only this time to talk about this year's drivers vs. last year's models.
One of the great things about golf is manufacturers are always giving us new toys, but that doesn't mean that the old toys are completely obsolete, or even unavailable.
Show is starting to see a trend with the new drivers.
"What you see this year and what you see going forward is manufacturers moving weight low and forward in the face, which really reduces ball spin, therefore increasing ball speed. That's why you see these loft up campaigns. Everyone wants to get a higher loft to maintain ball speed, launch it a little higher to get that carry and have the roll benefits," said Show.
Hardy is a Ping guy, so Show broke down for him the difference between the G-20 (last year's model) and the latest G-25. Show also gave reviews of the Callaway drivers and Taylor Made.

Hardy then gave a review of Butternut Farm Golf Club with the help of co-owners Cole and Hope Paige.
Butternut is located in Stow, MA and is a 6,300 yard par-70 course. It's a family run business that's been around for a little over 20 years now.
Hardy's never been but has heard from others how it plays.
Cole confirmed to Hardy that the fairways are tight, "but not as tight as they used to be." They've taken down quite a bit of trees in recent years to open it up. Cole also confirmed that it is a "thinking man's course."
"Tight fairways? Thinking man's course? I'm out on both counts!" joked Hardy.
There's also, what Cole believes, is the longest par-five in the country without a sand strap at 625 yards.
