The DA Show: Kevin Weekes On NHL Playoffs
NHL Network's Kevin Weekes joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's The D.A. Show Monday night to break down everything NHL Playoffs.
A former goaltender, Weekes is very impressed by the play of Washington Capitals net-minder Braden Holtby, who has done his part to shut down the Bruins in the first playoff series of his career.
"If anything, he's been the best goalie, hands down," said Weekes. "I talked to guys on the team yesterday and they said he's the best goalie they've had all year by a landslide."
What did Weekes think of Tim Thomas' aggressive play in Game 6? How does Thomas' size play into his aggressive play?
"Here is the interesting thing, Tim Thomas is about 5-11 and change. He doesn't have the size of a Tuukka Rask, he doesn't have the height, size and net presence of Braden Holtby. When you don't have that size, sometimes you have to be more aggressive to compensate," said Weekes. "They have to challenge a little more in certain situations."
"(Thomas) is one of the best in the business, if not the best in the business," said Weekes, "but he has to be a little bit more aggressive at times, and I know this sounds crazy, due to his lack of height."
Both Vancouver and Pittsburgh were ousted in the first round, which early exit most surprises Weekes?
What does the future look like for Roberto Luongo, who was benched for Corey Schneider against the LA Kings?
How important is it to have a good backup goaltender in the NHL?
And what does Weekes think of Raffi Torres' 25-game suspension?
