The Bear Essentials: Quick Hits From Bruins-Penguins
BOSTON (CBS) - Here are some quick notes from the Bruins' 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night.
NEGATIVES
- The Bruins blew a 2-0 third period lead by giving up three goals in 4:15 span. Things that stood out for each goal:
- Chris Kunitz goal to make it 2-1: It was the Penguin's first line out against the Bruins fourth.
- Ryan Sutter Goal 2-2: Goal occurs 51 seconds after Kunitiz'. The Penguins got a quick line change to get a fresh third line out while the Bruins first unit remained on the ice.
- Sutter goal 3-2: Dennis Seidenberg trumps a solid performance with a poor turnover.
POSITIVES
- In the last 14 games the Bruins are 9-for-39 on the power play.
- The Bruins road power play is 25.7 percent; third best in NHL.
- Tyler Seguin now has six goals in last seven game

OTHER
- This was the second night of travel on a back-to-back for the Bruins, but head coach Claude Julien said afterwards that's "not an excuse."
- The league's third best power play faced the number one penalty killing unit in league, and got shut down.
- Jay Pandolfo took the injured Chris Kelly's slot on third line.
- Anton Khudobin has two losses in his six starts this season. Julien mentioned earlier in the year that he would ideally like to see Khudobin have 15 starts. If he continues at a .750 wining percentage, he will finish 10-5.
- With a win, Boston would have gained the Conference lead over Montreal.
