The Adam Jones Show: Ed Reed Clears Waivers
BOSTON (CBS) - Adam Jones opened the show Wednesday night discussing the news that safety Ed Reed cleared waivers following his release by the Houston Texans.
Sidelined by a hip injury to start the season, the future Hall of Famer played in just seven games in 2013 for Houston, starting five of them. And with injured Patriots safety Steve Gregory slated to miss a few weeks with a broken thumb, is Reed a viable option for the Pats secondary?
Jones had Mike Giardi of CSNNE on his show last night and the Patriots insider said, "If he [Reed] clears waivers I'm sure there will be a phone call [from Belichick]."
However, Giardi went on to say that he doesn't think Ed Reed can run anymore and that the 9-time Pro Bowler doesn't have much,if anything, left in the tank. Bert Breer of the NFL Network echoed those same sentiments this morning on Toucher and Rich and doesn't feel like Reed is a good fit here in New England.

We've heard arguments from Giardi, Breer and others that say Ed Reed and Devin McCourty play basically the same position, so therefore he is not a fit here in New England.
Adam Jones feels these points are moot, because Bill Belichick can figure out a role for Reed no matter how big or small.
"Bill Belichick finds a way to get talented football players on the field," said Jones. "I just think that sells the Patriots head coach awfully short to say 'Well, Ed Reed and Devin McCourty play the same position, so there's no place for Ed Reed to play.'"
Jones does buy the argument that Ed Reed can't run anymore, but he thinks it's foolish for people to say he wouldn't be a fit here.
