Celtics At 7: Jones And Keefe Preview 2013-14 Season
BOSTON (CBS) - 98.5 The Sports Hub's Adam Jones previews the 2013-14 Celtics season in the first installment of a new segment, "Celtics at 7."
After a disappointing preseason, the Celtics open up their regular season schedule Wednesday night against the Toronto Raptors. There's a whole new look to the Celtics with Doc Rivers is manning the bench in Los Angeles and veteran All-Stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce now play for the Brooklyn Nets.
In Jones' opinion they're all changes that had to be made, even though this team likely won't be making any deep playoff runs in the near future.
"In my estimation, it's a much-needed makeover for the club. A much needed face-lift for this club and it all starts Wednesday night. Vegas has them pegged at 28 or 29 wins. That feels a little low to me," said Jones.
Rich Keefe jumped in on the conversation, and the two discussed the landscape of the Eastern Conference. Given the rebuilding efforts of other teams across the board, the C's will likely challenge for that 7 or 8 seed in the playoffs, which both agreed that no team would want.
With Rondo out for the first few months of the season, Avery Bradley will run the point, but first year coach Brad Stevens has his work cut out for him as far as finding the best starting five.
