The Adam Jones Show: Bruins Nab First Shootout Win Of The Season

The Boston Bruins improved their record to 8-4-0 on the young season after beating the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 in a shootout Thursday night at the TD Garden. Captain Zdeno Chara tied the game on a power play goal with under three minutes left in regulation, and their big offseason acquisition Jarome Iginla scored the lone goal in the shootout to lead the B's to victory.

Play-by-play man Dave Goucher and Jay Pandolfo called in to the Adam Jones Show afterwards to recap the win, and the discussion started on the impact of Ryan Spooner, who provided a spark after being recalled from Providence.

"I like Spooner's speed, he seemed to be shot out of a cannon. That's to be expected. He comes up here from Providence with a ton of energy, he's been playing well down there. Now he gets an opportunity," said Goucher.

The 21-year-old centerman led the baby B's in scoring last season with 59 points on 17 goals and 40 assists in 59 regular season games played. Spooner had a secondary assist on the Carl Soderberg goal in the second period, and his overall offensive impact was apparent to color guy Jay Pandolfo.

"Spooner brings that offensive instinct, he knows what to do when he gets the puck. That's what the Bruins need right now on some of their other lines," said Pandolfo.

The Bruins failed to record a shot until the final minutes of the first period, so with the offense struggling the way it is Ryan Spooner should help in that department going forward. The conversation then shifted towards Jarome Iginla, and the John Scott suspension was also a topic of discussion.
