Thanksgiving Travel Week Forecast: A Beauty Coming Up

BOSTON (CBS) - No news is good news this week in the weather department.  With all the stresses of holiday travel, the one thing that can really foul things up on a week like this is the weather.

Check: Current Conditions | Weather Maps | Interactive Radar

I am happy to report that all is quiet in the weather department this week not only in New England, but for the majority of the country.

TUESDAY

New England: Filtered sunshine, very light winds and seasonal temperatures, high near 50.

Elsewhere: A sizable ocean storm stays well out to sea, perhaps just throwing a few clouds towards the coast and Cape. Dry and cool along the entire East Coast and eastern half of the U.S.  In fact, the weather should be dry all the way from New England to the Rockies! The Pacific Northwest will be the only active weather location with rain and snow falling from northern California to Seattle.

WEDNESDAY

New England: Lots of clouds will linger around New England, but no precipitation. Highs stick near 50.

Elsewhere: A large area of high pressure spreads out across most of the Northeast and Midwest bringing plentiful sunshine. The one trouble spot will remain in the Pacific Northwest with rain and snow continuing in states like Idaho, Washington and Oregon.

THANKSGIVING

New England: A beauty! Developing sunshine, light winds and temperatures a tad warmer in the low to mid 50's by afternoon.

Elsewhere: Very quiet for Turkey day just for just about the entire U.S.  A cold front moves through the upper Midwest bringing a shot of arctic air to the Dakotas, but very little precipitation across the country.

BLACK FRIDAY:

New England: A terrific day for travel, shopping, whatever you may have in mind, mainly sunny, highs in the 50's.

Elsewhere: More rain and snow showers in the Pacific Northwest, a cold blast for the Upper Midwest, likely headed our way for the weekend.
