Thanksgiving Donations Stolen From New Bedford Food Pantry
NEW BEDFORD (CBS) -- A food pantry in New Bedford was robbed just as it had finished storing food for Thanksgiving.
Officials at St. Anthony of Padua Church in New Bedford report that 20 Turkeys and 150 pounds of cheese were stolen Nov. 16. Someone broke in to and damaged a refrigerated storage unit outside the church where the items were being kept, the church officials said.
But this weekend, New Bedford area residents stepped in and helped re-stock the food pantry. With the outpouring of support, church officials said they will be able to help families in need this holiday season.
