'Thank God It's Spring': New England Winter Refuses To Go Quietly
SUDBURY (CBS) – Spring has arrived. It just so happens that it arrived in the form of snow.
"It's been a rough winter," Gene Golad of Sudbury said.
Friday was the first official day of spring. But you wouldn't know it looking outside Friday night and some of Saturday as snow fell.
This latest snow fall was enough to cover sidewalks, making it tough on joggers.
"Thank God it's spring," Golad said.
Even though the conditions outside are far from ideal, at Bartlett's Family Garden and Market in Sudbury, vibrant colors are already in bloom.
"We are getting ready gearing up. We are anxious for spring," said Beth Dow of Bartlett's.
Dow says she's already sold several pots of pansies.
"Just beautiful colors of pansies that landscapers who are done with plowing can come in and get and start planting. As long as you are above freezing at night you can put them out and keep them out or put a blanket over them to protect them." Dow said.
Many residents say they're ready to start planting already but for obvious reasons they'll have to wait.
"Considering I can't see my lawn yet; I am excited to say the least," Golad said.
But soon all the snow will be gone, and a winter for the record books will come to a close.
"I'm hoping everyone is excited. I'm excited and I want to get out and plant," Dow said.
