Texans Beat Bengals, Advance To Face Patriots In Divisional Round
BOSTON (CBS) - The Houston Texans will be back at Gillette Stadium next weekend.
The Texans defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 19-13 in Saturday's NFL Wild Card matchup, setting them up for another showdown with the Patriots in New England.
With the Texans touting the matchup as the biggest game in franchise history, the Patriots handily beat them 42-14 on Monday Night Football in Week 14. Tom Brady picked apart the Houston defense for 296 yards and four touchdowns while Stevan Ridley added 76 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Texans star running back Arian Foster -- who ran for 140 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries against Cincinati-- was held to just 46 yards on the ground, and quarterback Matt Schaub was sacked twice and picked off once.
The Texans entered that Monday night 11-1, but the loss spiraled them to a late-season slump. Houston lost two of their next three after the drubbing in New England -- dropping them to the No. 3 seed in the AFC.
