Tenants On Chatham's North Beach Ordered To Leave
CHATHAM (CBS) – Chatham's North Beach is an incredible place to live.
It's a sliver of Cape Cod land on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, but soon, some of the homes will be gone.
The government believes the homes will be destroyed by the weather, so it wants to do the job first.
The tenants of five homes have been ordered to move out.

The cottages have been handed down from generation to generation, but are owned by the National Seashore and leased to the same families year after year.

No one disputes the land is getting smaller.
Last winter, during a nor'easter, Chatham's Harbormaster took WBZ out to the cottages at North Beach where waves were washing over the land, threatening the homes.
Now seashore officials say it's time to get rid of the buildings before a storm does.
Longtime residents want Mother Nature to decide, not seashore officials.
