Temperatures Skyrocket

3-2-1... Blast off!

That's how our temperature profile will look for today.

Check: Current Conditions | Weather Map Center | Interactive Radar

We are starting in the 40s and even 50s this morning.

Temperatures will head into 'record territory' this afternoon in the middle and upper 60s.

The current record is 67 degrees set back in 1995.

We have an excellent chance of tying, if not beating, this record today!

The sunshine will give way to increasing clouds throughout the day as a strong ridge and surface high begin to weaken.

A cold front will near southern New England this evening.

We will also have very gusty southwest winds (gusts near 50 mph expected) which has spawned the issuance of a Wind Advisory for our viewing area.

The cold front will be the culprit for a .10-.25" of rain overnight, mainly between 11 p.m. through 7 a.m. Friday.

Then, skies will become partly cloudy, and the wind will remain gusty.

However, the wind direction will shift to the west-northwest behind the cold front so temperatures will fall into the middle 40's early and remain nearly stagnant all day.

A second shot of cooler air will bring us a slight chance of a few flurries and/or snow showers Friday evening and early Friday night.

This weekend will start off cool and end up mild.  Saturday will be sunny but breezy and cool in the upper 30s to lower 40s.

Sunday will make a comeback as 50s return.

Plus, Daylight Saving Time begins @ 2am on Sunday,  pushing sunset back to 6:47p.m.

Models are showing diverging solutions for early next week.  I followed the GFSx guidance and went with mild temperatures along with a chance of rain late-day Monday and again the first half of Wednesday.

One Alarm Clock Away...
