Man Arrested After Wife Is Found Dead In Stoughton
STOUGHTON (CBS) -- A man was arrested by Stoughton Police after a woman appeared to be stabbed to death in a home on Bennett Drive Friday. Ilton Rodriguez, 48, is accused of murdering his wife, Telma Bras, 43.
Police received a 911 call around 11:40 p.m Officers broke down the door to find Bras in the living room along with her husband, said Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
'The officers made forced entry into an apartment and found the victim Telma Bras 43 dead by repeated stabbing," said Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
Rodriguez had tried to take his own life, the D.A. said. He was rushed to the hospital and is now recovering from surgery.
"He's undergone surgery overnight. He's in custody at the hospital. We expect he will be arraigned as soon as practical," Morrissey said.
The couple's two children, a 17-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old son, were home at the time. They are now getting help from other family members and professionals.
In a statement, Morrissey said, "The call to police came from a relative outside the apartment who has been contacted by the older child, who heard the disturbance and reached out for help."
The Pohkaren family lives right across the hall but were not home at the time of the incident.
"Now, after that happened I don't really know what's going to happen to the kids - for their safety and everything," said Surashree Pokharen.
Residents in this neighborhood are shocked.
"I can't even imagine. I'm stunned. I have no words," said Nelly Correia.
Police say they've never responded to this home before now and Rodriguez has no prior record.
"We pay great attention to those types and kinds of crimes - domestic violence situations," Morrissey said.
Rodriguez will face a number of charges including murder.
