Teen Tails Manchester, NH Robbery Suspect, Helps Police Make Arrest
MANCHESTER, NH (CBS) - Victor Rosario wanted to do the right thing. He was with his brother early Monday morning at a Manchester, New Hampshire CVS when he realized the store was being robbed.
The suspect jumped into a car and that's when 19-year-old Victor decided to follow him in his own vehicle.
"I was trying to help the cop," said Victor.
Police say 32-year-old Seth Skillin had just held up the CVS on Mammoth Road and was in a car driven by fellow suspect 24-year-old Robbi O'Rourke.
They were tailed by Victor, who kept in touch with police by phone, leading investigators to the suspects in nearby Derry.
Victor says Skillin lunged at him with a knife before police arrived.
"He was about to come at my window with a knife," said Victor. "That's when I left.
Police recovered evidence, including $900 in cash on Skillin.
Manchester Police appreciate the help, but at the same time, they say it might not be the safest idea for a civilian witness to tail a suspect in their own vehicle.
"We certainly wouldn't recommend it, especially in a case like this where the person was armed," said Manchester Police Lt. Michael Hurley. "You don't know what he's capable of doing."
There may be more of this in Victor's future; he plans on possibly becoming a police officer.
