Teen In Phoebe Prince Bullying Case Strikes Plea Deal
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - One of six teens charged in a notorious bullying case has struck a plea agreement with prosecutors in western Massachusetts.
A court motion filed Tuesday by an attorney for 17-year-old Sharon Chanon Velazquez says they expect to present a proposed plea deal to a Franklin-Hampshire Juvenile Court judge for consideration next week.
Velazquez faces charges including criminal harassment and stalking. She was among six charged last year after the suicide of 15-year-old Phoebe Prince, a South Hadley High freshman who had transferred from Ireland. All have pleaded not guilty.
The clerk's office says Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan's office also signed the motion. Specifics of the potential plea agreement were not specified.
Messages left Tuesday for Velazquez's attorney and the prosecutor handling the case were not immediately returned.
