The unidentified teen faces charges of cyber-stalking and using false information for allegedly creating a phony Facebook page in the name of another student.
Lt. Nicholas Tella told WBZ News Radio 1030 the page had a picture of a bloody severed foot under the profile "Halfafoot," and included the freshman's last name and birth date. The freshman has a birth deformity that left her missing part of her foot.
Detectives from the state police cyber crimes unit executed six search warrants to track the computer address and seized three computers from the sophomore's home.
Smithfield Schools Superintendent Robert O'Brien told WBZ he would not comment on the case, but he had a message for parents - monitor your kids' computer use and texting.
"If we can stop it at the source at where's it happening, we will not have (it) spilling into the schools or getting involved with police departments."
