Teen Arrested For Bringing Loaded Gun Into East Boston High School
BOSTON (CBS) -- A 17-year-old from Roxbury is being held on $25,000 for allegedly bringing a loaded gun to East Boston High School on Thursday.
Brendan Campbell was arraigned Friday on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, unlawfully carrying a firearm on school grounds, unlawful possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, and trespassing.
Investigators say Campbell was taken to the school's office after he went into the school through a side door.
They say he became nervous about talking about whether he had smoked marijuana and Boston police officers called to the scene became concerned Campbell had a weapon on him.
When searching his bag they found a .25 caliber semiautomatic Raven Arms handgun.
"Be careful," Campbell allegedly said. "There's one in the pipe."
Police say the gun was loaded with six rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.
If Campbell makes bail he must wear a GPS device and is banned from Boston Public School property.
