Tavon Wilson With Gresh & Zo: 'Thrilled To Be A Patriot'
BOSTON (CBS) – With the one their second round pick in this year's NFL Draft, the New England Patriots took Illinois safety Tavon Wilson 48th overall.
The pick is being called a "big reach" by some pundits, and downright slammed by others.
For Wilson, he doesn't care what all the so-called experts are saying. All he wants to do is play football.
"I feel like every time you step on the field you have something to prove," he told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh & Zolak Saturday afternoon. "Every time you go out there, you have to compete to be better than the last time. It's not about showing people; it's about being the best player you can be. That's what I'm focused on, being the best player I can be, the best teammate. It really doesn't matter what everybody else thinks."

Wilson said he is a big game player, and feels his strongest asset on the field is his tackling ability.
"I feel like I'm a strong tackler. Football is made up of blocking and tackling, those are the two main things of the game and I feel like I tackle well," he said.
But still, there is plenty to improve as he makes the jump from college to the pros.
"I'm trying to get better at everything," said Wilson. "I'm new to this now, so I'm going to try and get better at everything. The game is a lot faster, the players are a lot smarter so I'm going to attack like everything is a weakness right now."
As for where he will play, that is up to Bill Belichick and his staff.
"I'm best served wherever my team needs me. Whatever my team needs I'm going to try my best to do it. I'm going to attack my playbook and just be a great teammate, a great player," said Wilson. "I'm excited to be a Patriot. I was glad coach Belichick and his staff believed in me."
