Tanguay On Toucher & Rich: 'Celtics Put Forth A Great Effort'
The Celtics had two chances to eliminate the Heat from the playoffs and move on to the Finals to face the Oklahoma Thunder, but unfortunately they couldn't hang on. On Saturday night the Heat finished off the Celtics with a 101-88 win.
Comcast SportsNet's Gary Tanguay joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich to discuss the Celtics losing in Game 7, what players could be staying and which might be leaving and what this team might look like next season.
Now two days after the loss how does Tanguay feel about the series and the Celtics' season ending?
"The Celtics put forth a great effort and at the end of the day the team that should have won did win."
The Big 3 Era is likely over now in Boston as Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen become an unrestricted free agents. It could take a while for the Green to rebuild, but Tanguay is pretty optimistic that the organization will make the right moves.
"I'm not saying that they are going to win a championship next year and it's probably going to take them awhile to get back until their championship contenders and they may never get back to that level. You know it's not an easy thing to do as we have seen, but I think they are going to be competitive next year. I think they are going to be really good and I think the reason is Danny (Ainge) told Tommy (Heinsohn), Tommy said this on Post Game Live, he is going to get players that can run with Rondo."
They also discuss the option of Garnett returning to the Celtics next year. What could the offer the Celtic put out there look like?
