'Swimmer In Distress' Charged With Disorderly Conduct In Newton
NEWTON (CBS) - A Needham man has reportedly been charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct after firefighters showed up for a report of a distressed swimmer on Crystal Lake in Newton.
The incident happened last week during a severe lightning storm. A woman called 911 as the storm was approaching because she was worried about the swimmer, who was in the middle of the lake at the time.
According to The Newton Tab, when rescuers arrived, they determined that the swimmer appeared to need help.
Crews launched a boat, but as they got close, the man reportedly swam away. They reported he yelled at them to leave him alone and asked why they were there.
Swimming in that part of the lake is off-limits.
The 47-year-old received a court summons.
