2 Suspicious Bags Found At Logan Airport
BOSTON (CBS) -- Logan International Airport had some tense moments at its cargo terminal this afternoon.
Part of it even had to be evacuated for a short time.
Passenger travel was not affected, but emergency crews certainly had their hands full for a while.
Around 12:30 this afternoon, a TSA bomb-sniffing dog on a training mission identified a suspicious package: two duffel bags sent from a Boston address to Nigeria.
WBZ-TV's Jim Armstrong reports.
For close to two hours, emergency response crews studied the bags inside the Delta cargo terminal.
They used a series of x-rays which did not find a bomb, but also could not rule out the possibility of something dangerous inside.
Crews ended up slicing into the package and sending a small camera inside to look around. They found only "household items" such as linens and bed sheets.
Officials do not know at this time why the dog would have singled out that particular package as dangerous.
