Judge Ignores DA's Deal, Hikes Bridgewater Bomb Suspects' Bail to $10K
BRIDGEWATER (CBS/AP) — Three people accused of throwing six homemade bombs on a Bridgewater man's front lawn were held on $10,000 bail, despite a deal with the District Attorney's office to be set free on $500 bail each.
The suspects are 22-year-old Ryan Whealan and 23-year-old Erin O'Leary of Bridgewater and 23-year-old Daniel Linehan of Taunton, turned themselves in on Tuesday.
The three were arraigned in Brockton District Court on Wednesday morning on charges that included criminal harassment; possession or control of an incendiary device; throwing, placing or exploding explosives and willful discharge of a destructive device. A judge rejected the prosecutors request and set bail at $10,000 because of the seriousness of the allegations.
Police say the bottle bombs were filled with a combination of chlorine and rubbing alcohol.
Five of them exploded. No one was injured.
The homeowner who was targeted said Sunday that he suspected a neighbor dispute led to the bombing.
