Suspect Gets Plea Deal, Agrees To Testify In Harvard Dorm Murder
WOBURN, Mass. (AP) -- One of the three New York City men accused of killing a man in a Harvard University dormitory has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter in exchange for cooperation with prosecutors against the man who allegedly pulled the trigger.
Middlesex District Attorney Gerard Leone says 21-year-old Jason Aquino of New York City also pleaded guilty Thursday to armed robbery and willfully misleading a grand jury. Sentencing is set for May 2.
A second suspect, Blayn Jiggetts, has testified the three men had gone to Harvard in 2009 to steal drugs from Justin Cosby. He said the third suspect, Jabrai Jordan Copney, shot 21-year-old Cosby of Cambridge, Mass.
Copney' s former girlfriend was Harvard student Brittany Smith, who has pleaded not guilty to hiding the murder weapon and helping the men escape to New York City.
