Super Tuesday Could Be Make Or Break For Mitt Romney
BOSTON (CBS) - The eyes of the nation will focus primarily on Ohio for the Super Tuesday primary elections. That is the state where the contest between former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is perhaps the closest.
But Romney has chosen to stay in the Bay State Tuesday night, after coming here in the late afternoon to cast his primary ballot in his adopted hometown of Belmont.
Polls show Romney with a healthy, double-digit lead here heading into Super Tuesday. According to WBZ's political analyst Jon Keller, Romney needs a big win here. "Anything less than, let's say, 60 or 65% would be something of an embarrassment," according to Keller.
In other state contests, Keller says Romney has the chance to jump to the front of the primary pack – and stay there.
"This is really the first opportunity he's had to land what could be a knockout blow, not just to one opponent but multiple opponents," Keller said.
Romney is scheduled to have his Super Tuesday party at the Westin Hotel in Boston's Copley Square.
