Super Bowl Blog: Game Day Is Here
INDIANAPOLIS (CBS) - After two weeks of waiting, and waiting, and waiting, Super Bowl Sunday is finally here.
It's once again freezing in Indy, a mere 36 degrees with a little wind, but the sun is shining and people are ready for some football.
We left the hotel around 7 a.m. to beat the Super Bowl rush, and it's amazing how much parking is going for around Lucas Oil Stadium. It ranges from $150 to $500 depending on which lot you choose. One of the WBZ-TV crew members said they saw a sign for $1,000.
We parked in a lot that did not seem very organized, our passes were purchased days in advance but no one seemed to know anything about them, so we'll see if the cars are still there after the game!
A good mix of Patriots and Giants fans were in Shapiro's Deli right down the street from our live shot. A lot of throwback jerseys, from Drew Bledsoe and Ben Coates (an original starter jersey from Coates' playing days!). There were a few Colts fans too, sporting their own version of a Patriots jersey.
Sitting in the CBS Newspath trailer as the WBZ-TV sports team get ready for their 90-minute Patriots GameDay from 11:30am-1pm, broadcasting live from outside the Stadium.
Levan Reid takes a look at the upcoming rematch between the Pats and Giants, and also the first family of football, the Gronkowskis.
Dan Roche takes a look at the difference between Bill Belichick now and in past Super Bowls, especially 2007.
He also sat down with linebacker Jerod Mayo, who is gearing up for his first Super Bowl.
Steve Burton and the crew will break it all down, with the help of Scott Zolak, Mike Reiss, Doug Flutie and Steve DeOssie, and editor Jim Murphy has a monster nine-minute piece highlighting all the Patriots trips to the Super Bowl.
You won't want to miss it! (Unfortunately, we can't show it online, due to NFL restrictions.)
We'll all be heading into the stadium after the show, and we'll have plenty of updates coming throughout the day.
Tune in to Super Bowl XLVI between the Patriots and Giants on 98.5 The Sports Hub, the only place to hear the local call of the game. Pregame coverage begins Sunday, February 5 at noon.
