Sunshine Tops The Headlines
It's going to be a late-summer gem! The dry stretch will prevail through the remainder of the week.
Today will be even sunnier, a tad warmer, and less windy. It's hard to believe that it will be just as warm or even a little warmer since it's quite chilly outside this morning. Morning lows are dropping into the 40s for the majority of the suburbs. Highs will be in the lower 70s, but models are hinting at a weak onshore wind kicking in this afternoon which would lead to temps in the middle and upper 60s along the coast. A High Surf Advisory remains in effect until 2pm today with rough seas up to 4-7 feet as well as a moderate risk for rip currents.
An upper level ridge maintains its strength providing some gorgeous late-summer days. Wednesday will be the beginning of a warm-up as high pressure moves east, which will position us within the 'return flow'. Highs on Wednesday will be near 80F. Then, Thursday and Friday will be sunny and warmer in the lower to middle 80s along with low humidity.
This weekend...Saturday will be the pick day with highs in the middle to upper 70s with increasing clouds as a cold front nears. An upper level low travelling from the Great Lakes will become an open wave as it passes by on Sunday. Sunday is showing an increase in sunshine during the latter half of the day. Highs will be cooler in the lower to middle 70s due to the passage of the cold front.
Tropical Update: T.S. Leslie is nearing the eastern tier of Newfoundland. In addition, Hurricane Michael is churning in the central Atlantic posing no threat to the East Coast. There is another cluster of storms that has a high likelihood of becoming our next named storm this season...Nadine.
