Sun's Out...
Most of the early morning fog has burned off and temps are on the rise with the late August sunshine. An area of low pressure out at sea to our east is still swirling creating an onshore NE wind and this is locking some cloud cover over the Cape. The onshore breeze will also keeps temps in the 70s along the coast while interior towns warm into the 80s. With the warmer air and a bit of atmospheric juice a few showers or thunderstorms are possible later in the day inland.
Clouds and fog will reform tonight and burn-off tomorrow morning and just like today there is a chance of an inland shower or thunderstorm. The atmosphere stabilizes a bit on Friday creating minimal rain chances and ample sunshine.
We are still trying to work the kinks out of the holiday weekend but in general it is looking like classic Summer...very warm, a good deal of sun and the threat of afternoon thunderstorms. A front will be closing in from the west over the weekend guided by a dip in the jet stream. That dip will grab very humid air to our south and drag it up the Eastern Seaboard. That southerly, muggy flow will lead to increasing humidity and an increasing storm chance as the long three day weekend wears on. As of now the storm chances are lowest on Saturday and highest on Labor Day.
