Summer Lives On...

Just 10 days until the Autumnal Equinox and Summer his still going strong.  The high today of 85 was over 10 degrees above what we should see for this date.  Rest assured though, if this warmth isn't your cup of tea, you are about to be rewarded with pristine Autumn weather.

First things first...tomorrow we will still be under the influence of this balmy SW flow...that will shoot temps back up above 80 again.  There will be a fading front in the vicinity and therefore a brief pop-up shower or thunderstorm will be possible but it is not likely.  A second coldfront is approaching the Lakes and that one is a lot more potent.  First of all it has more upper level support and therefore showers are likely during it's passage midday Thursday.  Secondly, but probably most important, the air behind the front will provide a serious temp drop for the end of the week and the upcoming weekend.  Nothing outlandish, but certainly the coldest air of the season.  Despite nearly wall to wall sunshine on Friday, Saturday and Sunday...highs will not make it out of the 60s.  In fact, on Friday, some inland towns will struggle to get to 60!  By the way, the overnight lows will fall into the 40s with a few very sheltered areas in Interior New England dropping into the 30s with a chance of  some isolated light frost!

In the end, I love this time of year...there really is some great variety with Summer trying to hang on and Autumn trying to establish itself and you know what they say...variety is the spice of life!
