Summer About to Arrive...

It's always kind of annoyed me that we technically can't call it Summer yet until the solstice has occurred that is why I prefer the meteorological definition of seasons...Summer is June, July and August.  So for me, Summer is ongoing but "technically" it arrives tomorrow just after 1PM.

High pressure over the Northeast has provided some fine weather the last few days and will continue to keep the beautiful weather coming for at least one more day.  It will then begin to slide offshore and retreat to the Maritimes on Wednesday this will allow for a baroclinic zone (storm breading ground) to shift into New England bringing with it wet weather.  A warmfront will stall to our south beginning late Wednesday and may not sneak through until the weekend.  The problem a strengthening ridge over the Maritimes will continue to strengthen the surface high creating downstream blocking.  This will slow the movement of the warmfront and also it's parent low back in the Lakes...meaning an extended stretch of unsettled weather which will likely spill into the upcoming weekend.
