Suffolk Downs Holding Final Day Of Live Racing
BOSTON (CBS) – Suffolk Downs will hold its last live races on Sunday.
The company that owns the historic property in East Boston sold it to a real estate developer in 2017. They plan to build apartments, condominiums and offices on the 161-acre property.
Horse trainer Jay Bernardini said, "It's devastating seeing a part of you go away so it's difficult but hopefully something will come to fruition in Massachusetts in the next year or two, that would be great."
The former owner of Suffolk Downs announced plans last year to return live racing to the Great Barrington fairgrounds and is currently seeking permissions to do so from state lawmakers.
