Strong Winds Cause Downed Trees, Power Outages
BOSTON (CBS) --- Strong winds were the cause of several power outages and at least one death across the region Sunday.
In Burlington, a tree came down on top of wires at 44 Locust St.

Police told residents to avoid the area as NSTAR and a tree crew responded to the scene. Power outages were reported in the area.
In Topsfield, a tree came down on Hill Street and cut power to much of the town.
A downed high-tension line caused problems in Georgetown near Central Street.
Meanwhile, Haverhill Police warned residents going to the Santa Parade to dress in layers.
In Laconia, N.H., a 54-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon when a tree fell on him, the Laconia Police reported in a prepared statement. The Laconia Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 4:13 p.m. and found the man trapped and unresponsive under the tree.

According to witnesses, the victim clearing a fallen tree from the roadway when another tree fell on him. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the family.
In Concord, N.H., strong winds Sunday afternoon downed a large fiber optic cable on Interstate 93. Both sides of the highway were closed during the emergency response effort, the N.H. State Police reported in a prepared statement.
A work crew from Comcast was not able to secure the cable to its original position, so the workers decided to cut the fiber optic cable so that the roadway could re-open, the state police said.

Winds were expected to gust up to 45 mph with wind chill in the teens.
Temperatures were not forecast to get above 20 Sunday.
Temperatures are expected to hover around 21-degrees for the Patriots-Broncos game Sunday night in Foxboro.
