Stoughton High Students Mourn Loss Of Football Player Killed In Shooting
STOUGHTON (CBS) - Grief counselors were at Stoughton High School Monday as students returned to class following the weekend shooting death of football player David Wade.
Wade was shot in the chest by his older brother in the basement of the family's home on Turnpike Street Saturday.
No charges have been filed against the brother, but early indications are it was an accident. 21-year-old Michael Wade had a gun license, according to investigators.
An autopsy was performed Monday but the Medical Examiner did not immediately release a cause of death. A spokesperson for the Norfolk DA said the findings of the autopsy are consistent with what they believe was "an accidental shooting."
The care remains open, the DA said.
Wade's family has yet to make a public comment on the shooting. They hung his football jersey in the front window of their home Monday.
Wade's classmates have been expressing their grief on Twitter, sharing memories using the hashtag #RIP56.
